Details: What better way to spend Mother’s Day Weekend then a beautiful hike through the Palisades? This event is for all ages. We plan to enjoy a beautiful morning walk, once we reach our midway point, we will do some mild stretches and mindfulness. Please plan to dress for weather. May
can always surprise us. Things that are recommended to bring: water, yoga mat with bag or sling (for comfort during stretching), sunblock if warranted, proper footwear. Also, to note this is a State Park so you will need proper pass to enter.

Details: This class has no registration fee; however, if you do not have a membership or are bringing a guest who does not have a membership, we will happily include that in your registration as membership is required to attend so you don’t miss any events! You are also responsible for obtaining your own camping site if you wish to stay for the weekend and kayak for the day of event. OWSD does not register your camping site for you or reserve your kayak, please contact the Sylvan Lake campsite directly to get your spot saved today!
This is a kayaking event that will take place at Sylvan Lake for all ages and skill levels. Kayaks can be rented through Sylvan Lake and you must call to reserve your own. Details for rental are listen below and must be made in advance.

Family rate: $50/up to 3 people for 1 hour on 1 boat.
Watercraft rentals are available at Sylvan Lake (605-574-2561) see details at website below.
You may also bring your own kayak or canoe for the event as well. Please consider carpooling or reaching out to friends and family if you wish to borrow a kayak/canoe for the event. Please keep in mind you will also need a park pass to enter the state park for the event.

If you do not have a state pass for SD parks, you will need to purchase that day of. Location will be determined soon, but currently we are deciding between Great Bear or Big Sioux State Park.
This event is for all ages that can sustain a distance hike through trails. Our hike will include plant identification for increasing our knowledge when in the wilderness while we enjoy being together in the wilderness. Hiking shoes, appropriate hiking attire, water bottle, notebook, camera, snack (if needed),
sunscreen, bug spray, vehicle pass for the state parks are optional/required.

Ever wanted to learn how to can or process your own pickles and jam? Come to this class and enjoy a few hour session learning how to clean, prep and make your own pickles or jam for your family to love and enjoy. This class requires no previous knowledge or skills needed. We ask that due to high prices of products and equipment needed that registration for participants is set at $5 per person or $10 per family, provided that each family member is a current member as well.
At the end of the class you will not only go home with knowledge of how to can and water bath for yourself, but you will also be able to take home some goodies with you and share your knowledge with others!
The instructor is a registered and certified Cottage Food Producer for baked and canned goods!

We will meet at Hunters Pointe on Sept. 17 th at 1:00 pm. We will meet in the Pro Shop and go over safety and the gaming clay course. If anyone needs to purchase ammo, they can do that at the Pro Shop as well for $9.40/box. The course will require 4 boxes of clay target ammo. OWSD can provide eye protection and hearing protection if needed as well as a few vests.
This event will be limited to 12 people and will have a small fee of $25. We will split up into groups and go through the course. We will plan for 2 hours for the event. Youth members must have gone through hunter’s safety and present their card.
