The Outdoor Women of South Dakota shooting event will offer two location options to our membership on the same day and time. We will be shooting during regular open range hours the day of the event. OWSD members can bring their own firearms or each Range has handgun rentals available. If you choose to rent a firearm, you must purchase ammo from the range for that particular handgun. Each range will have instructors on hand for beginning shooters.
The cost for a day pass at the Outdoor Adventure Center is $15.00. The cost at the Smoking Gun Range is $25 per hour for a single shooter lane or $35 per hour for 2 shooters sharing a lane. Members can decide if they would like to share a lane or if they are more comfortable having their own lane. Shooters may bring their own ammo or ammo is available to purchase at the Ranges.
Each location will have a 12 members limit. Payment can be made directly to the Range the day of the event. The deadline to register is Monday, January 14, 2019. Please visit either location’s website for handgun rental info or for more information on the Ranges.
Pistols and rifles up to a .458 Winchester Magnum can be shot at the Brookings range and pistols and rifles up to a .300 Win Mag can be shot at the Rapid City range. Anyone under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult and must have completed a Hunter’s Safety Program. Members must be 21 years old to rent a handgun. Eye and ear protection is required on the range and may be purchased at the Ranges if you do not bring your own. All guns brought to the Center must be in a case, unloaded, actions open and magazines/clips out. Keep in mind the Ranges are open to the public and will not be reserved exclusively to our groups. All persons participating in the event must be a member of OWSD or can join on the day of the event.
