2008 Dam Run and Campout

August 16-17, 2008

Outdoor Women of South Dakota is coordinating a women’s campout near Pierre, South Dakota for Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday am. Come in on Friday and campout for the night under the stars. Get up in the am on Saturday and participate in the Dam Run.

Just what is the Dam Run?? It is a great paddle on the River, from the Oahe Dam back into Pierre- paddle at your own pace, stop off for a picnic lunch on the sandbars, or just to relax or swim. Rental of the kayaks or canoes is being made through Steamboat's Inc in Pierre with the cost being $30.00 for a single kayak, $40.00 for a tandem, and $35.00 for a canoe. So grab a friend or family member and come have some fun with us for a weekend getaway. There will be fun, sun and relaxation waiting for you!!

OWSD will need a head count by Thursday noon- August 13 to ensure that there will be enough kayaks/canoes for the trip- call now to make sure that you will have a spot in this great outdoor weekend.

Reservations for camping spots can be made at Oahe Downstream Campground #3. There are picnic tables and in ground grills at each site. Camp sites are $14.00 per night- and there can be more than one tent per site- so plan on bringing friends with you and your camper, tent or just sleep under the stars.
