Greetings to all in the outdoors! It seems that time passes so quickly once the children start back to school for another year, and summer is ending. It won’t be long before we are looking out across a blanket of snow instead of the gorgeous fall colors that are coming now. more

 

MONARCH MIGRATION

Migration can be defined as the movement of an animal from the place where it lives to a new place later returning to its original home. Animals migrate to avoid lack of food, shelter or because of the seasonal temperature changes. With their food source going dormant and the temperatures getting lower, the Monarch migrates. Monarchs encounter few obstacles on their migration taking advantage of the air currents and warm daytime temperatures. Cooler evening temperatures require the butterflies to swarm in the trees for the evening. Each butterfly needs certain warmth in order for them to fly.    more

Archery season has already started for some bowhunters who are out hunting antelope and for the lucky ones hunting elk. You need to think safety first and foremost on every hunting trip that you take. A lot of preparation goes into these hunts and having a checklist to help you plan your hunt will also make the trip more enjoyable. more

Transporting Firearms and Ammunition Aboard Commercial Air Carriers.

PIERRE, S.D. - The South Dakota Dept. of Game, Fish and Parks and the
federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are reaching out to
hunters, gun dealers, sports associations, law enforcement organizations and
others to help get the message out concerning the rules for transporting
firearms, firearm parts and ammunition. more

Requirements For Transporting Harvested Game Birds.

PIERRE, S.D. - State Game, Fish and Parks officials remind hunters that no
game birds may be possessed, placed in public storage, transported or
accepted for shipment unless certain minimum plumage requirements are met.more
 

Both Hunting License and Valid I.D. Required While Hunting

PIERRE, S.D. - Hunters are reminded that they must carry some form of
identification in addition to their hunting license while hunting in South
Dakota. more
