It’s a Dutch Oven Gathering!

Big Sioux Recreation Area near Brandon, S.D. in conjunction with the Brandon Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee are sponsoring a D.O.G.!

DATE: Saturday July 16, 2005

TIME: 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

LOCATION: Big Sioux Recreation Area near Brandon, S.D.

There will be Dutch oven demonstrations behind the picnic shelter throughout the day. Participants are invited to bring their own Dutch ovens and ingredients to make their favorite dish. We will have a potluck supper together at 6:00 p.m. under a big tent, with some possible entertainment from local re-enactors.

Napkins, drinks, plates, cups, and eating utensils will be provided.

Dutch oven demonstrations include:

3:30 P.M. - BAKING BREADS

4:30 P.M. – ONE DISH MEALS

6:00 P.M. - DUTCH OVEN DESSERTS, (followed by potluck supper)


There is no charge for this event but an entrance license is required to get into the park.

Those willing to do demonstrations will receive a free campsite, contact Becky Graff at the Big Sioux Recreation Area at 605-582-7243 to let her know what you will demonstrate and how many nights you wish to camp. For those just coming for the potluck, please call 1-800-710-2267 to make campsite reservations.
